Prabhu<\/p>\n<p><strong>1Kings 7: 46-51 (and 1 Kings 8)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Soon we are moving into a new sanctuary.<\/p>\n<p>We have been given an update the last phase of the work.<\/p>\n<p>Solomon was giving his final touches before dedicating the temple.<\/p>\n<p>He wanted to honor the Lord.<\/p>\n<p>He fulfilled his father\u2019s commitment to the Lord in furnishing a temple for God. \u00a0I kings 7:46-51<\/p>\n<p>Then the King dedicated the completed temple to God\u2019s Glory. 1Kgs 8<\/p>\n<p>What is the kind of sanctuary Solomon was dreaming?<br \/>\nTo what purposes was this sanctuary dedicated?<br \/>\nWe have better infrastructures but they do not make a better church.<\/p>\n<p>Look at King Solomon\u2019s dream for the place of worship.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>I.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong><strong>A Sanctuary for the Covenant Community. 8:1-9<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The ark of the covenant was brought to Jerusalem v1-5<\/li>\n<li>Corporate\u00a0 involvement\u00a0 v3 -5<\/li>\n<li>3-\u201cThen all the elders of Israel came, &amp; the priests took up the ark.<\/li>\n<li>5-\u201cAnd King Solomon &amp; all the congregation of Israel,<\/li>\n<li>Commandments were the basis of the covenant.<\/li>\n<li>9 There was nothing in the ark except the two tablets of stone.<\/li>\n<li>We are as servants of a new covenant 2 Cor 3:6<\/li>\n<li>So it was a covenant to serve God and keep his commandments<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>II. A Sanctuary filled with God\u2019s Glory\u00a0 v10-13<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the cloud of glory descended-Presence of God filled<\/li>\n<li>God was a reality in the temple not an idol.v13<\/li>\n<li>13-\u201cI have surely built Thee a lofty house, A place for Thy dwelling forever.\u201d\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Reverence for God was evident &#8211; we are God fearing community.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>III.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong><strong>It was Sanctuary of Witness to God\u2019s uniqueness. V 22-28<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>God\u2019s faithfulness\u00a0 v 20 \u201cNow the LORD has fulfilled His word which He spoke;<\/li>\n<li>God\u2019s Deliverance: 21- our fathers when He brought them from the land of Egypt.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>God\u2019s uniqueness (:23)<\/li>\n<li>And he said, \u201cO LORD, the God of Israel, there is no God like Thee<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nIV. A Sanctuary for Prayer (:28-53)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>it is a house of prayer\u00a0 :28-\u201cYet have regard to the prayer of Thy servant &amp; to his supplication,<\/li>\n<li>Prayer is an ongoing activity of the sanctuary :29-\u201cthat Thine eyes may be open toward this house night &amp; day,<\/li>\n<li>Effects of prayer (:31-53).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cForgive\u201d &#8211; Look beyond a fault &#8211; forgetting infringement<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>restored relationships :31-32<\/li>\n<li>restored fortunes:33-34<\/li>\n<li>healing experienced :37-40<\/li>\n<li>Deliverance\u00a0 and victory granted<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>V. \u00a0A Sanctuary for Missions: 41-43<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>:41 \u201cAlso concerning the foreigner who is not of Thy people Israel, when he comes from a far country for Thy name\u2019s sake\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>:42-\u201c(for they will hear of Thy great name &amp; Thy mighty hand, &amp; of Thine outstretched arm); when he comes &amp; prays toward this house,\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>a house of prayer for all nations.43-all the peoples of the earth may know Thy name, to fear Thee. Mark 11:17, 13:10<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>VII. A sanctuary for Consecration and Commitment 8:61-64<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Obedience to God<\/li>\n<li>Following the Lord with all sincerity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>CONCLUSION<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>There was rejoicing when they went to the sanctuary Psalm 122;1<\/li>\n<ul>\n<li>I rejoiced with those who said to me, &#8220;Let us go to the house of the Lord.&#8221; Psalm 122:1<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<li>They went home joyful and glad V 66 If you and I want a better church we should be better people<\/li>\n<ul>\n<li>covenant people experiencing the Glory of God<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>5th Aug 2012 &#8211; Sermon by Rev.
